Donating Material
Almost every item in the Archive has been donated and there would be no Archive today without the generosity of our members, the general public and the cinema industry who over the years have donated material to our safekeeping. We will never turn down material which is on subject and adds to the breadth of our holdings so please do not hesitate to contact us if you have something which you think we may be interested in. We also accept material from other organisations and archives and occasionally will pass on items to other archives where there is a more appropriate repository for the material. If the material includes books or magazines, please first prepare a list and submit it to us, so we can determine which copies are not already held. We will occasionally accept books that are held if they are in good condition, on the understanding that they will be sold to raise funds for the Archive.
Once we have agreed to accept the donation, we prefer for the material to be posted or couriered to us and are happy to cover these costs. If the material is too large to be sent in this way and it is not possible to deliver it to us, it may be possible to arrange for the material to be collected.
If you are interested in donating material, large or small please do contact us at archive@cta-uk.org.
Legacies
If you are not yet ready to part with your material, please send us a list so we are aware what you wish to donate and please leave instructions in your will that this material is left to the Cinema Theatre Association Archive. It is important to include this information in your will as a great deal of material has been lost over the years through house clearances organised by relatives entirely unaware of the historic value and interest of material.
