Volunteering

The Archive is entirely run and maintained by volunteers. Volunteering can be a very interesting and rewarding experience and you do not have to be a member to be a volunteer. We are always looking for volunteers to come and help out at the archive, perhaps once a month. Help to file, organise and sort the collections, deal with enquiries and undertake special projects. You don’t need any experience or particular skills although an enthusiasm and interest in the subject of cinemas will make the work more interesting, but perhaps you may just love archives and old documents, and that is fine with us. The Archive is located at Rochford near Southend on Sea and can be reached from London in around one hour by car or public transport.

If you cannot easily visit the Archive perhaps you might be of service by collecting and delivering donations, from time to time, from your area of the country. If you have computer skills and access to Word or Excel at home, we have plenty of work which can be undertaken remotely without ever visiting the Archive.

Please contact us to find out more and to share with us your interest in becoming a volunteer at archive@cta-uk.org.
