Notable contemporary cinema architect Stefanie Fischer discussed cinemas' role at the heart of local communities as more than cinemas: the disruption presented by the advent of urban multiplexes; the opportunity to re-establish local neighbourhood cinemas presented the change over from film to digital distribution and the anticipated interest in local neighbourhood cinema in the post Covid era. Using examples from a range of cinemas into which she had had major design input. Full of insight and first-hand knowledge, this was a warmly-welcomed talk by an engaged audience.
